BPS Studio

Stories, Developed With Intention

The BPS Studio is the original film and television development arm of Blunt Pencil Storyworks.

It exists to develop stories deliberately — with clarity, patience, and narrative focus — and to advance projects only when they are ready for meaningful next steps.

We don’t chase momentum.
We build it.

What We’re Drawn To

The Studio develops:

  • Original feature films
  • Original television projects
  • Short films and proof-of-concepts

We’re interested in stories that:

  • Understand what they’re trying to say
  • Respect structure and character
  • Know their genre — and use it with intention

Scale matters. But story comes first.

Our Development Philosophy

Development at BPS Studio is not cosmetic.

We care about:

  • Story engines that can sustain the narrative
  • Characters who actively drive the plot
  • Themes that are present, not accidental
  • Scenes that earn their place

We believe strong development protects projects — from premature exposure, rushed decisions, and avoidable missteps.

How the Studio Operates

We believe in partnership-based storytelling.

Studio work is:

  • Selective
  • Collaborative
  • Story-led

Projects are developed:

  • In-house
  • Through trusted creative relationships
  • Through the BPS Story Lab

There is no open submission window.
The Studio grows by design, not volume.

The Role of the Story Lab

The BPS Story Lab is where stories are tested, challenged, and elevated.
The BPS Studio advances projects that demonstrate narrative readiness and development discipline.

Not every project belongs in the Studio.
And not every good idea needs to move forward immediately.

Progress is intentional.

What the Studio Is Not

The BPS Studio is not:

  • A pitch marketplace

  • A representation agency

  • A production service

  • A submission portal

It exists to prepare stories properly, so when opportunities arrive, the work can stand on its own.

Where We Are Now

While Blunt Pencil Storyworks is currently focused on professional script coverage, Studio development continues quietly and selectively.

Projects move forward when they’re ready —
not because a calendar demands it.
